To test out our blog in preparation for our world trip, and to have “something” on it, here a selection of photo’s from our trip to Hasselt, in Belgium Limburg. First stop was the Abbey Herkenrode with the rather disappointing “experience tour”. The garden and the beer were, however, much more satisfying.

After the visit to the abbey, it started to rain, so we decided the only option was to head to the jenever (~gin) museum. Since this weekend “Happyness” was celebrated all over Hasselt, we only had to pay for one ticket. The exhibition was really nice and at the end would could sample some “Elixir”. It was alright, but a bit sweet. Even Sanne thought it was, although “Elixir” is target on women.

An interesting sign in the city “Elk kakje in een zakje!”. Literary translated “Every little shit in a little bag!” 🙂

We ate dinner at the “Smaaksalon”. The location was exquisite, it would not be misplaced for a fancy wedding reception. The food was alright, but the service was so so.

After a little detour via the cute little Belgium bar “de Egel” and the rock and metal bar “De Witte Non”, we ended up for a final belgium beer in the lobby of our hotel called “YUP”. We particularly liked the carpet and the funny quotes all over the place.

Next day we went for a nice stroll in the “Mechelse Heide”. It was rather nice, but really not match for our “Buurse zand”. Anyhow, the weekend was really relaxed and even if it were for all the delicious Belgium beer alone, it was worth it.

Hoop dat jullie een leuk afscheids fesst hebben gehad!
Een hele goede reis gewenst en tot over een jaar.
Groeten,
Liza
